Street food vendor nabbed in drug bust

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police nabbed a street food vendor in a drug buy-bust operation at Poblacion Sur Ivisan, Capiz Saturday afternoon.

The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of Ivisan Municipal Police Station arrested Regie Biona, 44, of Brgy. Mianay also in Ivisan town.

Recovered from Biona were 7 sachets of suspected illegal drug, P1500 marked money, a cellphone and several drug paraphernalia.

Police Captain Greg Anthony Salbang, Ivisan PNP chief, said they carried out the bust after days of surveillance operations against the suspect.

Biona denied selling drugs although he admitted using prohibited substances before.

The suspect is presently detained at Ivisan police station.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Capiz arrested a man for alleged illegal possession of firearms in an entrapment operation Saturday at Costa Verde Subdivision in Barangay Cagay here.

Police identified the suspect as Francis Gentoya, 40, of said barangay.

Recovered from Gentoya were a .45-caliber pistol with magazine and 5 live ammunitions, and P20,000 marked money.

The suspect failed to provide valid papers for the gun.

Gentoya is detained at the CIDG office. He will be charged for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
