A 20-year-old student survive a knife attack on April 16, 2023 in Estancia, Iloilo.
Police identified the victim as Eron Casper, a resident of Barangay Gogo, Estancia.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday but was reported to police authorities at 5 a.m.
The victim was with some friends when he went to a community dance at Estancia.
While at Barangay Daculan, eight young men approached him. He was several meters from his companions when the suspects ganged up and subsequently stabbed him.
Police later identified the suspects as a certain Joren Bano, Jeric BL and six John Does who are believed to be residents of Estancia town.
Casper managed to run and ask for help from his friends.
Captain Arniel Buraga, Estancia police chief, said the victim suffered multiple stab injuries on his body.
He was taken to Jesus Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan town for treatment and was later transferred to Iloilo Provincial Hospital.
“It appeared that the motive of the incident is jealousy. Parang may gusto ang isa sa mga suspects sa girlfriend ni Casper,” Buraga said.
A hot pursuit operation was conducted but none of the eight suspects was arrested.
