A native of Sultan Kudarat who had been on the run from law was arrested late morning of June 24, 2021 in Calinog, Iloilo.

Jairus Jun Napoles, 33, was collared at his residence in Sitio Dulunan, Barangay Canabajan, Calinog.

Napoles, a native of Barangay Paitan, Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat, had been hiding at Calinog where his relative and his wife’s family live.

Captain Dadje Delima, Calinog police chief, said the couple and their only daughter relocated to Calinog in 2015.

Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Laguna Provincial Field Unit, together with the 63rd Special Action Force (SAF) and Calinog Police Station, served three arrest warrants against Napoles.

The suspect is accused of murder in Criminal Case No. 20-5494. The warrant was issued by Judge Lorenzo Balo of the Regional Trial Court Branch 19 in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat on March 16, 2020 with no bail recommended.

He is also respondent in a string of criminal cases including forcible abduction with rape, rape and theft in Criminal Case Numbers 3563, 3564, and 3565.

Judge Renato Gleyo of RTC Branch 19 in Isulan, Sultan, Kudarat issued his arrest warrant on Nov. 13, 2017.

The two rape charges are non-bailable while a P10,000 bail was set for the theft case.

Napoles is also facing two counts of violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) in Criminal Case Nos. 19-5084 and 19-5085.

Judge Balo issued the arrest warrant on June 17, 2020, with bail fixed at Php 200,000 for each count.

Delima said the suspect is a DI (Directorate for Intelligence)-listed as a most wanted person on the national level. His arrest carries a reward of P130,000.

Delima said Napoles was aware of the charges against him but claimed they were all trumped-up.

He is now in the custody of CIDG-Laguna.
