One of the two suspects in the killing of a former seafarer in Dumangas, Iloilo voluntarily surrendered afternoon of June 29.
Jesus Dipus, Jr., a resident of Barangay Pagdugue, turned himself in to Bacolod City Police Station 4 at around 1:30 p.m. on June 29.
Major Kenn Albert Lepsia, Dumangas police chief, said Jesus Jr.’s father, Jesus Sr., has yet to surrender himself.
The father-and-son tandem was accused of killing Cezar Dipus Jr. in his sleep.
The incident was discovered around 6:30 a.m. on June 28 after a neighbor saw the victim’s bloodied body.
It was initially thought that the 47-year-old victim died of suicide.
He was also said to have died of a slash injury on his neck.
But investigation conducted m by the PNP Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team revealed that the victim sustained a gunshot wound on his neck with an exit wound on the right shoulder.
It was surmised that the shooting episode happened between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m.
A neighbor claimed to have seen the two suspects walking from Cezar’s house prior to the discovery of his body.
A witness added that the two boarded a bus going to Iloilo City.
