BACOLOD City – A suspected member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested for three counts of homicide at Sitio Tugas, Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Members of the Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion (IB) and Himamaylan City Police Station served the warrant to a certain Dexter Almuete Jr., 36, of the said village.
According to the Army, Almuete is an alleged member of Central Negros (CN)-2, SDG Platoon, who was reportedly involved in an ambush incident at the said village on April 19, 2020 that killed three members of the 94th IB.
Killed in the ambush were 2nd Lt. Amante Abibico, Corporal Joel Nobleza, and Private First Class Carl Venice Bustamante.
Following Almuete’s arrest, intelligence operatives of the military assigned in the area were tasked to monitor the possible retaliation of the rebels.
The Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA) were also alerted for possible harassment or retaliation of the NPA.
