BACOLOD City – An alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) with three arrest warrants was arrested at Sitio Agpapatao, Barangay Binobohan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental last Wednesday.

The Army identified the suspect as a certain Porferio Landesa, alias “Peryong”, an alleged member of Local Guerilla Unit (LGU) Central Negros 1- Kometing Rehiyon-Negros Cebu Bohol Siquijor (KR-NCBS).

Military troopers of the 94th Infantry Battalion (IB) under the operational control of 62nd IB responded to a report on the alleged presence of NPA rebels at the said village.

They later sighted Landesa, who was reportedly armed with a .38 caliber revolver with 13 live ammunitions.

According to the Army, the suspect is believed to be a member of the Leonardo Panaligan Command (LPC)-NPA and has three arrest warrants for murder, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and illegal possession of explosives, all issued by Judge Mario Trinidad of Regional Trial Court Branch 64 in the said city, based on police records.
The murder case stemmed from the alleged killing of a member of Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) at Barangay Trinidad in 2018, the Army said.
