BACOLOD City – Mayor Neil Lizares of Talisay City, Negros Occidental ordered Wednesday night the closure of the city hall for disinfection.
Lizares said the building will reopen Monday.
The closure is due to reports that a Bacolod City resident, who tested positive for COVID-19, recently processed a business permit at the New City Hall in Talisay.
“I would like to assure the Talisaynons who recently had transactions at the New City Hall that our employees are compliant with our safety protocols to the best of their ability. Thus, it is highly improbable for the patient to have infected other clients,” the mayor said.
He said that even before clients enter the New City Hall, strict health protocols are implemented, most importantly the wearing of masks.
Lizares further said that the body temperature of the client is also checked, and the client is denied entry if his or her body temperature does not fall within normal levels.
“Our employees also make sure that each and every client’s hands are disinfected by spraying ample amount of alcohol. Inside the New City Hall, strict physical distancing is observed in every office,” Lizares said
Meanwhile the operation of the Land Transportation Office in Bacolod City was suspended for 14 days starting Wednesday after the reported visit of a COVID-19 positive individual from Victorias City.
Riza Otayde, LTO Western Visayas public information officer, said that the offices that were closed for decontamination until August 12 are LTO Negros Occidental Licensing Center, Bacolod City District Office and Negros Occidental Law Enforcement Service at the LTO compound at Cottage Road, and the Drivers’ License Renewal Center at Robinsons Place Bacolod.
She said the 50 Bacolod LTO employees will undergo 14-day home quarantines on orders of LTO 6 Regional Director Eric Lenard Tabaldo.
The Victorias City resident travelled from Cebu and reportedly delivered goods to various areas in Negros Occidental, Otayde said.
