BACOLOD City – Mayor Neil Lizares of Talisay City, Negros Occidental assured residents of their safety and urged them not to panic after two more COVID-19 cases were reported in the city.
“This saddens me but I have to let you know so we all stay vigilant and cautious. Talisay City has Patient Nos. 2 and 3,” Lizares said.
Patient No. 2 is a Locally Stranded Individual (LSI) from Manila who arrived at the Bacolod-Silay Airport with documents proving that she was negative for COVID-19.
“Immediately at the airport, RT-PCR test was done and she was transported to our quarantine facility at CICM,” Lizares said.
Lizares said the LSI’s RT-PCR test result indicated that she was COVID-19 positive.
The patient is now at the healing facility in EB Magalona.
“We are now continuously monitoring the people she was with during quarantine at CICM and decided to conduct another RT-PCR test for the safety of all and to make sure Talisay City will be COVID-19 free,” Lizares said.
Patient No. 3 is a health worker at a hospital in Bacolod City.
“His RT-PCR test was conducted last July 1, 2020 and he was immediately admitted to the hospital. The result of his RT-PCR test was also released today (July 8, 2020) and it was positive. Please note, however, that the case of Patient No. 3 is not a local transmission of the virus. Patient No. 3 stays admitted at the hospital at this moment,” the mayor said.
“I understand that some of you may feel scared, but this is not the time to panic. I only ask that we all pray for the immediate healing of Patient Nos. 2 and 3. I also urge you all to be extra-careful. Practice proper handwashing, wearing of facemask, and strict social distancing.”
