Tanod shot dead by passenger

BACOLOD City – Police have yet to determine the motive for the killing of a watchman or tanod in front of a hotel in Barangay 7 here yesterday.

The victim was identified as Michael Hugo, 42, of Barangay 2 here, who also worked as a tricycle driver.

Initial investigation indicated that Hugo was driving his tricycle when his unidentified passenger shot him and fled on board a motorcycle driven by an unidentified companion.

Hugo succumbed to gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.

The victim’s wife told Aksyon Radyo Bacolod that her husband left their house around 6 a.m. to drive his tricycle.

She said that her husband did not mention any threats or enemies before he was killed.

Meanwhile, the Barangay 2 council expressed their deepest sympathies to the Hugo family.

“Thank you (Michael Hugo) for your dedication, love and service to the barangay. We will miss you,” the council said in a Facebook post.
