Tapaz Most Wanted Shot While Resisting Arrest

ROXAS CITY, Capiz—A 59-year-old man, listed as one of Tapaz’s top five most wanted, was injured after resisting arrest early Sunday morning in Barangay Santa Ana, Tapaz, Capiz.

Police identified the suspect as Rolando Galagate, a resident of the said barangay.

According to the Jamindan police, officers initially went to Barangay San Jose in Jamindan to serve the arrest warrant but did not find the suspect there.

Upon receiving information that Galagate was in Barangay Santa Ana, police proceeded to the area.

When officers arrived, the suspect reportedly fired at them with a 12-gauge shotgun, prompting police to return fire, hitting him in the body.

Galagate is currently under hospital arrest at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City, where he is receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, Sapian police arrested a 71-year-old man in Barangay Bilao, Sapian, after serving an arrest warrant for homicide in connection with a September killing in Barangay Man-op, Altavas, Aklan.

Police identified the suspect as Drigo Doroteo, 71, of Sitio Bulon, Barangay Bilao, Sapian. He was accused of killing Dionela Doroteo, allegedly by striking the victim on the head with a hard object.

Captain Christine Cerbo, chief of the Sapian police, said an autopsy revealed the victim died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Doroteo is currently under police custody pending proper disposition of his case.
