TecPlata, the Buenos Aires-based business unit of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), has achieved the prestigious Business Alliance for Secure Commerce (BASC) certification.
The milestone makes TecPlata the first terminal in Buenos Aires to secure this international recognition, underscoring its commitment to supply chain security and global trade standards.
BASC is a nonprofit organization that promotes secure trade through collaboration with governments, regulatory bodies, and global institutions.
The certification is part of TecPlata’s strict adherence to security management protocols, aimed at preventing illegal activities such as smuggling, drug trafficking, terrorism, and cargo theft.
“This certification, along with being part of the BASC network, strengthens TecPlata’s cooperation with customs and international organizations, enabling us to manage risks and secure trade without compromising border controls,” said Juan Pablo Trujillo, TecPlata’s chief executive officer.

The BASC certification provides TecPlata with several operational advantages. These include international recognition as part of the World BASC Organization (WBO), smoother inspections due to enhanced trust from authorities, and reduced risks and costs through stringent security measures.
It also strengthens TecPlata’s market position, aligning the terminal with global standards while offering access to specialized audits and training for continuous improvement.
