Teen electrocuted on electrical post

BACOLOD CITY – A 14-year-old boy, who was supposed to celebrate his birthday on Saturday, May 18, died after he was electrocuted in Barangay Zone 2, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, yesterday.

Police withheld the name of the victim, who was a Grade 8 student.

Police Lieutenant Colonel John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, said the victim was found unconscious while hanging on an electrical post around 6 a.m.

According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), it took 20 to 40 minutes for rescuers to remove the victim from the post, as they requested a vehicle to reach him on top of the post.

The victim was declared dead in a hospital, according to Batusbatusan.

He said that pliers were recovered from the victim, but police could not presume anything.

Batusbatusan stated they have no idea why the victim climbed the electrical post.

Since it was a non-crime, he said they could not dig deeper into other details pertaining to the case.
