A 19-year-old fisherman was arrested after allegedly stabbing his father to death on June 15, a day before Father’s Day.

John Rey Mabunay allegedly attacked his father, 51-year-old Agustin Mabunay, during a drinking spree at their home in Barangay San Pedro, San Jose, Antique.

Reports indicated that Agustin, John Rey, and his twin brother Jeffrey were drinking liquor when a misunderstanding ensued between John Rey and Jeffrey.

Jeffrey allegedly admonished John Rey after he accidentally hit Jeffrey’s child, leading to a fistfight between the two.

Agustin reportedly tried to pacify the fight. Shortly afterward, John Rey took a knife, chased his father, and stabbed him several times.

Agustin sustained multiple stab wounds on different parts of his body. He was rushed to Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Members of the San Jose Municipal Police Station immediately arrested John Rey. He is now detained and charged with parricide.
