A man who suffered head injuries was found dead morning of February 14, 2021 in Estancia, Iloilo.

Police said they have yet to identify the body as of this writing.

Police Executive Master Sergeant Paul Torrico, Estancia deputy police chief, said no one has come forward to verify the body after it was found 7AM Sunday at Barangay Daan Banwa.

Police investigators theorized that the person may have been dead for around 8-10 hours before he was found.

A motorist saw the body in a grassy portion a few meters from the paved barangay road.

“We presumed that the victim was a teenager because of the way he looked. We also learned that he was just newly-circumcised,” Torrico said.

Two bamboo poles around a meter long were found near the body.

The victim suffered a laceration on his right eyebrow and multiple injuries on his head believed to have been inflicted using a hard object.

Both his eyes also sustained hematoma, which Torrico said could indicate that he was punched for several times.

“We are considering that possibility that he could have been a recruit for a youth gang in the area. He could have died from hazing,” he said.

Torrico said they are coordinating with nearby police stations to identify the body.
