Teen girl accuses rider of rape

A 13-year-old girl claimed she was sexually molested while on her way home early evening of Oct. 9 in Cabatuan, Iloilo.

Nina (not her real name), a high school student, told police investigators she came from a sports-related practice around 6 p.m. and decided to go home on foot.

While walking at the roadside along a national highway, she noticed a motorcycle tailing her.

She did not mention if there were persons in the area but she claimed to have run in the alley leading to their home.

The man allegedly ran after her, grabbed her bag, and punched her thrice in the abdomen. The man then allegedly molested her in a vegetated portion of the area.

Captain Dionisio Estacio, Cabatuan police chief, said the girl did not shout or make any noise to catch attention out of fear.

Accompanied by family members, she reported the incident at 8 p.m.

“We conducted a hot pursuit operation but two hours is too long for us to be able to catch the alleged rapist,” he said.

Estacio said they also looked for CCTV camera footage from houses in the area.

One footage only showed a man on a motorcycle running behind the girl.

However, the same footage is not clear enough to show the rider’s identity.

“Medyo malabo ang kuha. Naghahanap pa kami ng ibang CCTV cameras that might help in our investigation,” he said.

It was gathered that the girl was already made to undergo a medical examination.

But when she reported yesterday, Estacio noted no bruises, hematoma, or any other injuries on her body.

“Baka hindi pa nag-manifest during the time of reporting kasi bago pa lang nangyari,” he said.

Estacio assured that they were looking into the incident thoroughly and asked for help from possible witnesses.
