Teen randomly attacks woman

A teenage boy remains at large after hacking a woman afternoon of Nov. 10 at Janiuay, Iloilo.

Alias Sansan (not his real name), 16, of Barangay Yabon, Janiuay, fled after attacking Angelyn Decrito.

The 33-year-old victim, also a resident of Yabon village, was on her way home around 2 p.m. Friday when she was waylaid by Sansan.

Captain Alwin Salmon, Janiuay police chief, said the victim did not see the attack coming and failed to parry the blow.

She suffered injuries on her head, left hand, and right wrist.

Decrito was not fatally hit as the bolo first hit her umbrella.

She was immediately rushed to Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay town and is now in stable condition.

Salmon said they’re still investigating what triggered Sansan to attack the victim without any apparent reason or provocation.

But police investigators are not discounting the possibility that the victim got mentally disturbed after constantly working on an empty stomach.

Prior to the incident, the suspect worked on the farm.

He went home around noon but was unable to eat lunch because he was again asked to do something.

“Basi nagutman siya siguro,” Salmon said.

Sansan is an orphan who is in the care of his grandmother.

His grandmother was surprised about what happened since the suspect had no record of violent acts in the past.
