PLDT Enterprise, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Strengthening Private Enterprise for the Digital Economy (SPEED) Activity, kicked off its nationwide MSME Day roadshow in Iloilo, marking the beginning of a comprehensive effort to support micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) across the Philippines.
The event, held on July 25, 2024, at the Jaro-Mandurriao Ballroom, Courtyard by Marriott in Iloilo Business Park, aims to equip local businesses with the digital tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the modern economy.
Timed with the official declaration of July as Philippine MSME Month, this initiative underscores PLDT Enterprise’s commitment to fostering the growth and success of MSMEs through digital transformation. The roadshow features a series of workshops and networking opportunities designed to help business owners leverage technology for enhanced operational efficiency and market reach.
“Our MSME Day in Iloilo is yet another example of our commitment to support the growth and success of MSMEs across the Philippines,” said Jay Lagdameo, Vice President and Head of Enterprise Revenue Group at PLDT Enterprise.
“At PLDT Enterprise, we always put our customers first. Our priority is to help them understand and identify the solutions meant for their business, and we do so by giving them access to learning series and workshops that help them connect with industry leaders and business experts.”
The event offered MSMEs insights into various aspects of digitalization, including access to finance, technology adoption, upskilling, market expansion, and internet safety.
Participants were introduced to essential digital resources such as Enterprise Broadband for reliable business-grade internet, Smart Postpaid for seamless communication, and Maya for digital payment solutions and lending services.
Chet Alviz, Vice President and Head of Enterprise and International Marketing at PLDT Enterprise, emphasized the importance of reaching businesses nationwide through initiatives like MSME Day.
“By reaching MSMEs nationwide, we ensure that every business, regardless of location, is equipped with the essential digital tools and resources needed to thrive in today’s competitive landscape. Our goal is to bridge the digital divide and support the growth and success of MSMEs across the country,” Alviz said.
The program also featured sessions led by industry experts, covering topics such as financial management, intellectual property, e-commerce, and the basics of artificial intelligence (AI) for MSMEs.
Key speakers included Raymond Del Rosario from Maya, who discussed informed financial decision-making, and Samie Gonzaga and Janille Gultiano from Smart Communications Inc., who presented on internet safety and security.
As part of the event, PLDT Enterprise, in collaboration with the PLDT-Smart Foundation, launched the PSF Smart Cart, an initiative aimed at further supporting MSMEs by providing access to essential digital tools.
USAID, through its SPEED Activity, joined forces with PLDT Enterprise for MSME Day to help local businesses embrace digitalization and enhance their digital skills. This collaboration aims to amplify the impact of their programs for greater MSME development across the country.
With the success of its first leg in Iloilo, the MSME Day roadshow is set to continue, bringing valuable resources and knowledge to MSMEs throughout the Philippines.
