TESDA-Capiz revives ‘nutribun’

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Capiz revived the production of nutritious bun (nutribun) during the launching and first leg of the Capiz Training Outreach Program (CapizTOP) in the municipality of Pontevedra on July 18, 2019.

Baking, which produced 1,000 pieces of nutribuns, was one of crash-courses participated in by 50 Senior High School students.

“While it does not look exactly as how it appeared before, some modification of ingredients certainly adds up to its health value,” said Capiz TESDA Director Engr. Abdel Bakhri Hajan.

Nutribun was a healthy snack advocated during the administration of President Marcos distributed in public schools nationwide to minimize the consumption of unhealthy junk foods by students for a healthy living.

Its revival was welcomed by parents and students alike as they hope for its institutionalization once again, Hajan said.

“More than three decades have gone when students in public schools were supplied with the nutritious bun,” he said.

The produced nutribun during the training were distributed to the students of the school and a nearby Daycare Center in the municipality.

Noting the importance of the training for the revival of for proper nutrition, Hajan said that the same training on baking will also be conducted in the rest of the municipalities and city of Capiz with the aim of distributing 1000 pieces of nutribun as an output per town.

TESDA Capiz tied up with the Capiz TESDA Schools Association (CAPTESA) in cooperation with the respective local government units here to conduct the community-based training activity dubbed as CapizTOP. (PIA)
