Three suspects were already charged for the murder of a teenage boy on February 14, 2021 in Estancia, Iloilo.
Major Aldren Lamera, Estancia police chief, said the case was filed against Alberto Barrio alias Sweet and two others on February 18 at the Iloilo Provincial Prosecutors Office.
Barrio, 30 years old, from Poblacion Ilaya, Pontevedra, Capiz, was arrested evening of February 16.
The co-accused, known only by their aliases, remain at large as of this writing.
Lamera said the victim, who was only known as Nonoy, remains unidentified.
“Our personnel went to Roxas City but we didn’t locate his family,” he said.
Lamera said it’s possible that Barrio misled police investigators by providing false information about the victim.
“Who knows where the boy came from? He could be from Masbate province for all we know,” he said.
Lamera said they have a witness pointing to Barrio as the suspect.
Nonoy’s body was found on the roadside in Estancia, Iloilo on February 14.
It was initially thought that he was a victim of hazing since his body bore head injuries.
Two bamboo poles around a meter long were found near the body.
The victim suffered laceration on his right eyebrow and multiple injuries on his head, which he could have gotten after he was struck with a hard object for several times.
Both his eyes also sustained hematoma, which could indicate that he was punched several times.
