BACOLOD City – Police in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental are searching for a group of robbers who are allegedly behind the series of robbery hold-up incidents in the city this month.
Police Lieutenant Dennis Melgarejo, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the recent incident victimized three employees of a cooperative who were robbed at Sitio San Antonio, Barangay Hilamonan last Wednesday.
Melgarejo said the three employees of Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation Inc (Dungganon) were on their way home on board a tricycle when unidentified men threw sugarcane leaves at them when they passed by the area.
Melgarejo said four unidentified men then came out of the sugarcane field and allegedly declared the hold-up.
Melgarejo said that three of the robbers were armed with .38-caliber revolvers, while the other was armed with a knife.
The robbers then threatened the victims and allegedly took their cash collection from their clients amounting to P24,249, and their personal money amounting to P4,700, as well as their other valuables. They were left unharmed.
Melgarejo said it’s possible that the suspects monitored the routine of the victims.
Melgarejo said they believed that the same perpetrators were behind the two previous robbery incidents that victimized three persons in a pension house, and another person that is into a catering service.
“Same manner and same description abi ang mga suspects na naka black jacket, medium built, and naka bonnet,” he added.
Melgarejo said they have no lead yet on their identities and they already coordinated with the barangays officials and watchmen to help them monitor any suspicious individuals in their respective areas.
