Three dead in NegOr shootings

BACOLOD City – Three persons were killed in three separate shooting incidents in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental in the past three days.

The latest incident occurred in an eatery at Barangay Poblacion on Tuesday, killing Rodel Barillo, 37, of Barangay Kagawasan.

Initial investigation by the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), indicated that Barillo was eating with his brother when two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle arrived and shot him several times in the head.

Barillo was declared dead at a hospital. He was a co-owner of a security agency based in Dumaguete City, with clients in Dumaguete, Tanjay City, Cebu City, and San Carlos City in Negros Occidental, police records indicated.

On May 10, Feliciano Blanco Mahinay Jr., 48, of Barangay Trinidad was also gunned down by an unidentified assailant as the victim went out of their house after eating dinner with his family.

Police said that Mahinay was a caretaker of a farm owned by a village councilman, and a former member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu).

Also slain that day at Barangay T-Hill was 44-year-old Dante Jimena.

Jimena was found dead inside his house, with gunshot wounds on different parts of his body.

Police said that the victim was cooking inside his house when the unidentified perpetrator shot him several times.

Police recovered from the scene an empty shell of .45-caliber ammunition.
