BACOLOD City – Three persons were killed in separate shooting incidents in the town of Ilog and Silay City in Negros Occidental over the weekend.

In Ilog town, Ernan Villarin, 36, of Barangay Tabu died after he was allegedly shot by CJ Tecson, 23, of Cauayan town, reportedly due to drunkenness at Barangay Tabu last Sunday.

Police Major John Ganzon, town police chief, said that Tecson was arrested later that night.

Also killed in another shooting incident in the town was Ruben Arcellas, 44, of Barangay Galicia.

Ganzon said that Arcellas was allegedly gunned down by his brother-in-law Romulo Mainit Jr., 28, of Barangay Bocana, who voluntarily surrendered to the police yesterday.

Police investigation showed that Arcellas and his friend were walking after he had an argument with his wife, when the suspect reportedly tailed them and shot him in the head.

Arcellas was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead. Ganzon said they are waiting for the decision of the victim’s wife for the filing of charges.

In Silay City, Arnel Hilado of Barangay Bagtic was also shot to death at the said village last Friday.

Police records showed that the victim and the suspect identified as Gener Gonzales were having a drinking session when a heated argument ensued between them.

The suspect went home and reportedly took an unknown firearm and allegedly attacked the victim, hitting his abdomen. Hilado was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
