Three hurt as strong winds hit Bago City

BACOLOD City – Three persons were injured while almost 30 houses were damaged by strong winds due to heavy rains that poured on four barangays in Bago City, Negros Occidental in the past two days.

On Wednesday,15 houses were damaged in the villages of Atipuluan, Abuanan, and Ma-ao. The strong winds were felt past 2 p.m., according to a report from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

The following day, strong winds also damaged six houses and destroyed two others at Purok Tondo in Barangay Malingin, and also damaged four others at Purok Narra in the same village.

According to Orland Francisco of the CDRRMO, two houses were also destroyed at Barangay Atipuluan.

Francisco said that the strong winds were brought by the heavy rains past 1 p.m.

He said that the three wounded persons suffered minor scratches and refused to be brought to the hospital.

The city government has extended assistance to the affected households.
