BACOLOD City – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod arrested three persons in an entrapment operation at Barangay Alijis here last Friday for allegedly selling wild animals.
Arrested were Ramil Cabale, 45; Ruzzel Taghoy, 27; and Dexter Belleza, 36, all residents of Murcia, Negros Occidental.
The operation conducted was in coordination with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Bago City.
Police Chief Master Sergeant Ramiro Gocotano, CIDG-Bacolod head, said that the suspects allegedly violated Republic Act 9147 (Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act).
Recovered from the suspects were the P100 marked money, P149,900 boodle or fake money, 25 live pit vipers, a dead palm civet cat, 13 live Angle Head Lizards, two dead Angle Head Lizards, 36 Orphnaecus perfumy, 66 Orphnaecus Philippinus, 59 centipedes, 17 Sailfin Lizard, a dead Sailfin Lizard, two dead Cave Gecko, 70 Flame Leg Millipede, 35 Black Millipedes, and a van.
Orphnaecus perfumy and Orphnaecus Philippinus are species of tarantulas or hairy spiders
Gocotano said that the suspects failed to show pertinent documents authorizing them to possess or sell the said wild animals.
