BACOLOD CITY – Three football teams emerged victorious in the Season 5 match of the Bacolod Football League (BFL), held on October 12 and 13 in Bacolod City and Bago City, Negros Occidental.
The winning teams were Jesusa Kids FC, Green United, and Pontevedra FC, each clinching championship titles in four different categories.
The young football participants — Jesusa Kids FC and Green United in the Born 2016 and Born 2014 categories, respectively — delivered an intense display of skill and determination in front of enthusiastic spectators.
The first session took place at Bacolod City National High School on October 12, with Jesusa Kids FC winning in the Born 2016 category.
Silay Lokal FC finished as first runner-up, while 6100 First Touch Football Club secured second runner-up after a hard-fought match.
In the Born 2014 category, Green United claimed the championship title.
Pontevedra FC earned the first runner-up spot, while Ames FC took second runner-up after a competitive afternoon showdown.
On the second day, for the first time, the BFL held its final matches at the Manuel Y. Torres Sports Center in Bago City, featuring the Born 2010 and Born 2012 categories. High-stakes games showcased the rising football talents of the region.
In the Born 2012 category, Green United emerged as champions, with Pontevedra FC as first runner-up, and Bago City Elementary School finishing as second runner-up.
In the Born 2010 category, Pontevedra FC triumphed as champions, followed by Bago City FC as first runner-up and Verde Unido El Grupo as second runner-up.
Jose Miguel Valmayor, president of the Negros Occidental Regional Football Association (NORFA), expressed his support for the development of grassroots football in the region.
Meanwhile, BFL chairperson Jeffrey Velez announced and invited teams to the upcoming BFL Festival of Football, set for October 26 and 27 at Bacolod City National High School.
