Three teens die in collision

BACOLOD City – Three male teenagers on board a motorcycle died after they collided with a Ceres Liner bus at Barangay Tabun-ac, Toboso, Negros Occidental Thursday morning.

Police identified the fatalities as Junrey Bawaan, 19; Arnel Selma, 18, both residents of Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City; and Windel Montejo, 15, of Toboso town.

Police Major Joery Puerto, town police chief, said Bawaan was driving a motorcycle to Toboso when it allegedly collided with the Bacolod-bound bus.

“The motorcycle was speeding while approaching the curved portion of the road,” Puerto said.

Bawaan died on the spot while his two companions died at a hospital due to severe injuries.

Puerto said the bus passengers, driver, and conductor were unharmed.

Bus driver PG Palarion, 25, of Calatrava town is detained at the police station for investigation.

Meanwhile, Jesedith Marquez Seballos, legal and media relations manager of Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI), said they are willing to comply with procedures and assist the driver if charges will be filed against him, although he was not at fault for the incident.

Seballos said the bus driver will be released from police custody after the lapse of the reglementary detention period because there is no ground for him to be charged.

She said the victims did not even have licenses and the motorcycle that they used was unregistered.

 

Trouble-shooter killed in bike crash

In Guimbal, Iloilo, an employee of Iloilo Electric Cooperative 1 (ILECO-1) was killed after his motorcycle rammed into a gutter Thursday morning.

Police identified the victim as Julius Hachero, 32, of Gemino, Guimbal.

Hachero, a troubleshooter of ILECO-1, was on his way home from work when the accident happened.

He had just responded to a power interruption at Barangay Buyuan, Tigabauan town before his shift ended.

Police Corporal Deogracias Nobleza, Guimbal police investigator, said the victim may have fallen asleep while navigating Rizal Street around 3 a.m.

Hachero rammed into the gutter and crashed onto the pavement.

Members of the Guimbal Fire Station responded to the scene and brought the victim to Guimbal District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Hachero succumbed to head and knee injuries.

 

Man killed in motorcycle crash

Also on Thursday, a 33-year-old man died in a motorcycle accident at Brgy. Intongcan Pontevedra, Capiz.

Eugene Aguihap of Brgy. Intongcan was found dead by bystanders at around 5 a.m.

Police investigation indicated that Aguihap was on his way home after bringing a friend to Brgy. Binuntucan Pontevedra when his bike crashed into a plant box.

Aguihap was believed to be drunk during the accident.
