Three villages in Roxas City under watch due to COVID

ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Three villages here are under watch by local authorities after the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) reportedly infected residents through local transmission.

Reports state that six more cases of COVID-19 were listed in barangays Culasi (3), Cagay (2) and Barra (1).

Barangay Kagawad Enrico Joseph of Barangay Culasi, said that among those who were affected by the virus was a 50-year-old male from Sitio Sakop and a relative of a COVID-19 patient; a 68-year-old male also from Sitio Sakop; and a 60-year-old female from Poblacion who was exposed to a locally-stranded individual (LSI).

Joseph said village officials distributed food packs to Sakop to keep residents from going out.

Punong Barangay Arturo Aragon of Barangay Cagay said that among those who were infected by the virus were a 21-year-old male and a 26-year-old female from Crossing Cagay who had close contacts with another COVID-19 patient.

Meanwhile, Punong Barangay Ernie Borreros of Barangay Barra said a 70-year-old female resident was the first COVID case in his barangay.

It was learned that 4 of the new cases are confined to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) while 2 are at Hortus Botanicus in Barangay Milibili here, the quarantine facility of the Roxas City government.

In sum, Culasi now has 7 cases, Cagay with 9, and Barra with 1.
