Superstar shooting guard RR Pogoy isn’t going anywhere after the TNT Tropang Giga gifted him with a fresh three-year contract deal last June 26, 2023.
Despite a hobbled PBA Governor’s Cup campaign when he wasn’t able to finish their grand finals clash against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel due to a fractured finger, TNT still pulled the trigger and is sticking with their talented scoring machine for another three years.
It was his long-time agent Edgar Mangahas who posted the recent development in the Tropang Giga camp.
Pogoy was present during his contract signing at the PLDT office and was also graced by PLDT/SMART president Al Panlilio.
Aside from Mr. Panlilio, TNT governor Ricky Vargas and team manager Jojo Lastimosa also made their presence felt in the PLDT office.
Pogoy quickly became an integral part of TNT’s post-season success since getting drafted during the 2016 special Gilas Rookie draft.
The sweet-scoring guard has now spent all seven of his PBA playing years under the Tropang Giga and is now a two-time champion donning the yellow and blue jersey.
Pogoy kept on getting better and had an impressive all-around stat line last season, averaging 18.29 points, 3.98 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.35 steals.
As of now, the Cebuano superstar is still nursing a fractured finger injury and is doubtful for a Gilas Pilipinas men’s national basketball campaign confirmed by head coach Chot Reyes.
If ever Pogoy heals up just midway through Gilas’ training camp for the upcoming FIBA World Cup, Reyes and the rest of the coaching staff might re-consider him as he was part of the 21-man pool that is set to represent the country in the prestigious global hoops games.
