BACOLOD City – Police are looking into grudges as possible motive behind the shooting to death of a drug surrenderer at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 here on Sunday night.

Police Captain Leo Estopa, head of Police Station 2, said the recent murder case which claimed the life of 48-year-old Norman Sola, came a week after a shooting incident also occurred at the said village on August 23, killing a man who had a previous case in illegal drugs.

Estopa said Sola was with three companions in front of a store past 7 pm Sunday when a lone unidentified gunman shot him at close range then fled.

Sola was taken into a hospital, where he was declared dead due to two gunshot wounds in the stomach and leg, the station commander said.

Police recovered from the scene three empty shells of .9mm-caliber ammunition.

Estopa said they already have persons of interest, but they will have to validate first the names mentioned by the victim’s family which might have a link to the killing.

“Possible na may kontra siya,” he said, adding that they are also searching for the victim’s three companions, who went missing after the shooting happened.

“Maybe they can help in the investigation or puwede man mangin suspects sila,” he said.

He said Sola surrendered to the police through Oplan Tokhang last year, but they will have to check if he had records in other police stations possibly related to illegal drugs.

“Hopefully, we can solve these two incidents in due time,” he said, adding that they are continuously probing both cases.
