Top teams set for crucial matches in PVL Reinforced Conference

PASIG CITY – The race for quarterfinal berths in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference intensifies today as top teams Chery Tiggo, Creamline, and PLDT gear up for pivotal matches at the Philsports Arena.

With identical 4-1 records, these teams are determined to secure another victory and join early quarterfinalists Akari Chargers and Cignal HD Spikers in the knockout phase.

The first game of the day features Chery Tiggo Crossovers taking on Choco Mucho Flying Titans at 1 p.m.

Despite a challenging season marked by key absences, including star player Sisi Rondina, Choco Mucho is eager to turn around its 1-4 record.

Coach Dante Alinsunurin faces the tough task of revitalizing his squad, which has struggled in recent matches, particularly with import Zoi Faki’s underwhelming performances.

Chery Tiggo, on the other hand, continues to thrive under coach Kungfu Reyes.

The team has been buoyed by strong performances from players like Ara Galang, Pauline Gaston, and import Kath Bell, who has been a consistent force on both ends of the court.

“Our focus is to maintain our momentum and stay sharp as we push towards the quarterfinals,” Reyes said.

The 3 p.m. match between Creamline Cool Smashers and Petro Gazz Angels promises to be another intense battle.

Despite missing injured stars Tots Carlos and Jema Galanza, the Cool Smashers have maintained their winning form, led by import Erica Staunton and seasoned players like Michele Gumabao and Bea de Leon.

Petro Gazz, with a 2-3 record, is riding high after a recent victory that showcased the offensive firepower of Wilma Salas and Brooke van Sickle.

Former MVP Myla Pablo is also expected to play a crucial role as the Angels look to upset the Cool Smashers and boost their chances of advancing. “We know what’s at stake, and we’re ready to give it our all,” Pablo stated.

The day’s final game at 5 p.m. sees PLDT High Speed Hitters facing the winless ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles. While PLDT is expected to dominate, coach Rald Ricafort cautions against complacency.

“Every match counts, and we cannot afford to let our guard down,” Ricafort emphasized. PLDT will rely on import Elena Samoilenko and local stars like Mika Reyes and Kim Fajardo to secure the win.

With teams fighting for every point, today’s matches are expected to be a thrilling display of top-tier volleyball as the PVL Reinforced Conference moves closer to its knockout stage.
