BACOLOD CITY – A 42-year-old farmer accused of being a militiaman was arrested on murder charges in Barangay 1, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, last Saturday.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Lando,” hails from Barangay Quintin Remo and is an alleged member of the Yunit Militia of Central Negros 1 under Komiteng Rehiyon – Negros Cebu Bohol Siquijor (SWF (D), KR-NCBS).
Lando’s arrest was carried out based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 63 in La Carlota City on August 16, 2024, with no bail recommended.
Police identified Lando as the fourth most wanted person in Western Visayas.
In a related case in Isabela town, authorities arrested a 33-year-old laborer for parricide charges in Barangay Tinongan on January 6.
The suspect was listed as the seventh most wanted person at the regional level. The RTC Branch 63 in La Carlota City issued the arrest warrant, also with no bail recommended, on December 10, 2024.
