Tornado tramples 13 houses in Kabankalan

BACOLOD City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Western Visayas  turned over relief assistance to 13 families, whose houses were hit by a tornado in Barangay Bantayan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Thursday.

Mayor Benjie Miranda, who visited the areas affected by the tornado yesterday, said he was saddened buy the incident.

But he is thankful that no life was lost in the disaster.

Miranda pledged to give P1,000 to each family on top of the cash assistance from the local government.

Miranda said that those with damaged houses will receive P3,000 each, while those whose houses were destroyed will get P4,000 each.

The DSWD provided food packs, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, and kitchen kits.

Some parts of the province are experiencing rainfall due to localized thunderstorms.
