Trike driver killed in road mishap

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 49-year-old man was killed in a road collision Wednesday evening in Brgy. Lawaan here.

Police identified the fatality as Angelo Tumbocon of Brgy. Punta Tabuc here while his passenger Vincent Bolante, 35, of Avelino Street here was injured.

The accident occurred around 10:21 pm when the tricycle where the two victims were riding collided with a Toyota Hilux driven by Theny Amata Bornazal, 42, of Caprichon ll here and a Toyota Revo driven by Gelacio Candar dela Cruz, 61, of Rizal Street here.

Investigation by the Roxas City police indicated that Bornazal was on his way from Panitan to city proper and Dela Cruz was about to turn right when they figured in a collision.

Because of the strong impact of the collision, the Hilux car hit the tricycle and Tumbucon suffered fatal injuries in the head and other parts of the body.

Tumbucon was taken to the nearest hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Bornazal and Dela Cruz, including their respective cars, are in the custody of the Roxas City police station.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after his motorcycle was accidentally bumped by a rescue ambulance early Thursday morning on Roxas Avenue, Roxas City.

Police investigation indicated that the victim was on his way to Pavia Street from TATC when he was hit by the ambulance of Jamindan town driven by Georgie Llamaz Nobleza of Brgy. Caridad, Jamindan.

The boy is in critical condition at Capiz Emmanuel Hospital while his back rider John Lloyd Bautista, 18, of Brgy. Dayao here suffered minor injuries.

The victims were allegedly drunk.
