BACOLOD City – Personnel of Calatrava Municipal Police Station in Negros Occidental already have a person of interest in the killing of a truck driver at Sitio Candi-is, Barangay Tigbon last Monday.

The victim was identified as Jay Sabulbora of Barangay Bagong Silang, Don Salvador Benedicto town.

Investigation indicated that Sabulbora, along with an unidentified passenger, were riding a truck when the passenger alighted from the vehicle when they reached the scene and allegedly shot the victim twice on his shoulder and arm.

The victim managed to run but the suspect caught up with him and again shot the former twice in the head and chest.

Sabulbora was taken to Calatrava Municipal Health Center but was declared dead on arrival.

Police Major Roberto Indiape Jr., town police chief, said the suspect allegedly carted away the victim’s cash sales amounting to P30,000 to P60,000.

Indiape said they could not yet establish if the victim and his passenger just met on the road or if they knew each other and both traveled from the point of origin, as the victim was in the town to deliver pineapples.

Indiape said they are validating information about the person of interest.
