BACOLOD City – Police are looking into grudges and drunkenness as motives behind a stabbing incident that wounded two brothers at Sitio Saisi, Barangay Orong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Wounded were Mark Mayo, 22, and Marlon Mayo, 24, both residents of the said village.
Police Lieutenant Dennis Melgarejo, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the victims and 38-year-old suspect Brady Gallo, who is the husband of the victims’ aunt, were having a drinking session when they figured in a heated argument.
A fistfight then followed between Marlon and Gallo, until the latter allegedly stabbed the former, hitting his stomach, Melgarejo said.
Mark tried to pacify them, but Gallo also allegedly stabbed him in his left arm.
Melgarejo said that Gallo and the victims’ elder brother previously figured in a fistfight.
“Na recall siguro ang natabo, nakainom pa sila,” Melgarejo said referring to the possible cause of the commotion.
Melgarejo said the victims suffered minor injuries and were already discharged from the hospital.
Melgarejo said the suspect also sustained minor abrasions during the commotion. He was released from police custody yesterday after the lapse of his 18-hour reglementary detention.
“Gin pabati-bati-an daw siya amo to nag grapple sila kag nag initay,” Melgarejo said quoting the suspect.
