BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) recognized the bravery of two policemen who got wounded when they served an arrest warrant against a wanted person at Barangay Singcang-Airport here last Thursday.
Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said members of the Bacolod City Mobile Force Company (BCMFC), served an arrest warrant for murder against Limuel Talaman, when the latter reportedly pulled his improvised firearm locally known as “sulpak.”
Puerto said Patrolman Jhon Ray Ortega and Lieutenant Roque Gimeno III figured in a scuffle with Talaman to disarm him, but the latter allegedly shot Ortega.
Gimeno and Talaman grappled with the gun until the suspect was subdued, the station commander added.
Police recovered from the suspect the improvised handgun with four live ammunitions.
Puerto said Ortega was confined to a hospital due to a gunshot wound on his left arm, while Gimeno and Talaman suffered minor scratches and bruises during the commotion.
He said Talaman will be facing charges for attempted homicide and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Meanwhile, Colonel Manuel Placido, BCPO director lauded the other members of the arresting team for the successful conduct of the police operation.
The BCPO also extended financial assistance to the wounded personnel in the performance of legitimate police operation.
