In Don Salvador Benedicto town, Andy Caranay of Barangay Igmaya-an died after he collided with a sedan loaded with four passengers at Barangay Bunga last Monday.

Police Lieutenant Everly Canto, deputy police chief of Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Police Station, said Caranay was allegedly speeding on his way home when he reportedly overtook another motorcycle and rammed into a sedan driven by a 40-year-old resident of Talisay City.

“Na alang-alang siya (Caranay) siguro, naglapaw siya sa pihak na lane,” Canto said.

The accident was captured by a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of a nearby resort, which was provided by the police to the media.

Canto said that Caranay, who was not wearing a helmet, died on the spot, while the four passengers of a sedan – two senior citizens, an adult, and a minor – suffered minor injuries.

Canto said the sedan driver is in their custody and will be released if no charges will be filed against him within the 18-hour reglementary detention.
