BACOLOD CITY – Two friends were killed, and their companion was wounded after their motorcycle overshot the roadside in Sitio Barca, Barangay Jonob-Jonob, Escalante City, Negros Occidental, last Wednesday.

Police identified the fatalities as Rafael Iwag of Sagay City and Analie Edano, 28, of Cadiz City. The injured is Eliza Villaplaza, 23, of Barangay Dian-ay, Escalante City.

Police Staff Sergeant Mark Janssen Guavez, traffic investigator of Escalante City Police Station, said the three victims were riding a motorcycle driven by Iwag on their way to Barangay Dian-ay to take Villaplaza home.

Guavez reported that Iwag was allegedly speeding while approaching a curve, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle. He added that none of the riders were wearing helmets.

Iwag and Edano were declared dead at the hospital, while Villaplaza remains hospitalized due to a shoulder injury, according to Guavez.

Guavez noted that the three victims were returning from an outing. He added that Iwag was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, according to his family.
