BACOLOD CITY – Two motorcycle riders have died and another has been injured after a collision with a truck in Barangay Lemery, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, last Saturday.

The deceased were identified as 31-year-old Reymund Cogonon and 54-year-old Pedro Sabroso, both from Barangay Macasilao.

The injured party, 23-year-old Randel Bornea, also hails from Barangay Macasilao.

Police Captain Jesus Alba, the deputy chief of Calatrava Municipal Police Station, reported that the accident occurred when the motorcycle, driven by Cogonon with two passengers, veered into the truck’s lane on a curve.

“The motorcycle sideswiped the truck’s rear tire on the opposite lane,” Alba explained. “They were caught behind the truck because they crossed over into its lane,” he clarified.

Cogonon was pronounced dead at the hospital, while Sabroso succumbed to his injuries early Sunday morning.

Bornea, the surviving victim, is currently hospitalized but in stable condition.

The 31-year-old truck driver was released from police custody after an initial agreement with the families of the victims.
