BACOLOD CITY—Two relatives died and three others were injured in a dispute over loud music at Purok Florence Ville, Barangay Pahanocoy, on Wednesday night.
The fatalities were identified as Richard Orita, 49, and Rolando Pigollo.
Orita’s children, Richelle, 29, and Richie, 27, were among the injured.
Police Capt. Greeky Cayao, chief of Police Station 8, said the incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. while the four victims were having a drinking session at their home and playing loud music.
A 67-year-old construction worker reportedly approached them and asked that the volume be lowered.
The victims then allegedly went to the suspect’s house and struck him on the head with a stone, according to Cayao.
The suspect, angered by the assault, reportedly grabbed a bolo from his house and stabbed the victims.
Orita sustained two stab wounds in the chest and was pronounced dead at a hospital. Pigollo succumbed to a stab wound in the abdomen, Cayao said.
Richelle and Richie suffered multiple stab wounds and are recovering in a hospital. Richelle sustained three stab wounds in the abdomen, while Richie was stabbed in the left leg.
The suspect, who was also injured during the altercation, is under hospital arrest, Cayao said.
The murder weapon has been recovered, he added.
Police are investigating whether there was a prior misunderstanding between the parties.
Homicide charges will be filed against the elderly suspect, Cayao said.
