BACOLOD CITY – Two people were killed and three others injured in separate stabbing incidents in Negros Occidental on Sunday night.

In Talisay City, a 58-year-old man died after being stabbed during a commotion in Barangay Concepcion around 11:40 p.m.

Police reported that the 48-year-old suspect was drinking with his older brother and a friend when the victim and his companion, reportedly intoxicated, passed by the suspect’s house and called out to him.

An argument ensued, leading to a fistfight. The suspect then allegedly drew a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim and his companion.

The suspect’s wife and older brother tried to intervene but were also attacked, according to police.

The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The suspect’s 37-year-old wife and 50-year-old brother were injured, sustaining wounds to the abdomen and left buttocks, respectively, while the victim’s companion suffered a stab wound to his left hand.

Police arrested the suspect and recovered the bladed weapon.

In a separate incident in Isabela town, a 34-year-old laborer was fatally stabbed following a misunderstanding in Barangay Guintubhan around 9 p.m.

Police Major Joseph Partidas, chief of Isabela police, said the victim and the 54-year-old suspect were drinking with friends when a commotion broke out between them.

The suspect allegedly pulled a bladed weapon from his waist but was initially pacified.

The victim went home, then returned with a pipe, which triggered another altercation. The suspect then allegedly stabbed the victim in the left armpit.

The victim was declared dead at a hospital, while police arrested the suspect.

The murder weapon was not recovered, according to Partidas, who added that homicide charges would be filed against the suspect on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
