Two farmers were hacked to death evening of Dec. 16 in Miag-ao, Iloilo.

The victims were identified as Javier Fare, 53-and Melvin Ceniza, 45, both residents of Barangay Cabalaunan, Miag-ao.

Both victims died of multiple hack injuries.

Javier sustained wounds on his nape, both shoulders, back of his head, among others.

Barangay officials were able to rush him to the hospital but died while undergoing treatment.

Javier was also able to squeal on their killers while being transported to the hospital.

He pointed to his nephew, Joemer Fare of Barangay Cadoldolan, Miagao and Jomarie Pamintahon of Cabalaunan village as the assailants.

Captain Francis Donne Lomahan, Miag-ao police chief, said that Ceniza was found around 7 a.m. of Sunday.

He was discovered near the area where Javier was attacked. His body was covered by a pile of rice straws.

Ceniza sustained injuries on his neck and face.

Prior to the incident, the suspects and the victims attended a birthday party.

There was a commotion that involved Ceniza and Joemer.

Instead of going home after the party, the two victims decided to spend the night near the area and slept on top of rice straws.

As they were sleeping, Joemer and Pamintahon passed by. Joemer allegedly hacked Ceniza.

Javier was awakened by the incident and he, too, was attacked by the suspects.

Joemer was arrested in a hot pursuit operation while Pamintahan remains at large as of this writing.
