BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in northern Negros Occidental is continuing its search for two fishermen reported missing in the waters off Banago, Bacolod City, and Talisay City, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday.

The missing fishermen were identified as Aldin Nepomuceno and Noel Mahinay, both residents of Magsungay in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.

Commander Jansen Benjamin, head of PCG-northern Negros Occidental, said the two went fishing on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 29. The boat owner alerted the Coast Guard on Wednesday when the fishermen failed to return home.

Benjamin stated that a search and rescue (SAR) operation was immediately launched. However, as of press time, PCG personnel have not located the men or their boat.

PCG-northern Negros Occidental has coordinated with all PCG units in Guimaras and Iloilo to remain on alert for possible sightings and provide assistance.

Benjamin added that other fishermen, who were informed of the situation, reported no sightings of the missing men, despite favorable weather conditions.
