BACOLOD City – Four areas here were flooded following heavy rains on Sunday afternoon according to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, CDRRMO head, said the affected areas were along SM City Bacolod and Barangays 8, 10, and 12.

Pornan said the rainfall started at about 12:30 p.m. and lasted for about two to three hours.

There was no evacuation since affected residents refused because the floodwater subsided after a few hours, Pornan said.

She, however, said that the CDRRMO is just on standby in case the situation worsens.

The Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD) in Negros Occidental issued a thunderstorm advisory around 12:47 p.m., saying that moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds due to thunderstorms affected the province, including Bacolod City, Talisay City, and portions of Bago City and Murcia town, which may persist for one to two hours.

At 4 p.m. the PDMPD issued a weather forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA), saying that an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affected Mindanao and Palawan.
