Two Iloilo towns go up in Top CMCI Improvement Rankings

The municipalities of Lemery and Barotac Viejo in Iloilo have made significant leaps in the 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI), securing spots in the Top 10 Most Improved Municipalities in the Philippines.

Lemery and Barotac Viejo, two municipalities in Iloilo, have been recognized for their remarkable progress in the 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI). The annual CMCI awards, held on August 23, 2024, celebrate the advancements of local governments in various aspects of governance and development.

Lemery, which ranked 608th in 2022 and improved to 279th in 2023, achieved a significant milestone by securing the 9th position in the Top 10 Most Improved Municipalities for 2024. Barotac Viejo also showcased substantial progress, moving from 477th in 2022 to 133rd in 2023, and finally reaching the 8th spot this year.

These achievements underscore the ongoing efforts of local government units (LGUs) in enhancing their competitiveness and delivering better services to their constituents. The CMCI ranking assesses municipalities based on economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency.
