BACOLOD City – Two soldiers and a member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) were wounded after they were ganged up by a group of young men in a fiesta at Purok Mangga, Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
The name of the two wounded intel soldiers and the 19-year-old Cafgu member were withheld upon the request of the police.
Police Lieutenant Colonel John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, said the victims were deployed to the area to secure the barangay fiesta when at least 12 individuals allegedly attacked them.
“Gin sulong lang gid sila (victims) kay mga hubog man ang mga suspects,” he added.
Batusbatusan said the suspects had brass knuckles and mauled the victims. Nine of them were arrested while three are still at large, according to the police chief.
Of the 12 suspects, three are minors, Batusbatusan said.
The victims suffered injuries in the face and body and were taken to a hospital.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old boy was injured after he was shot by a policeman who responded to a commotion of a group of young men in Sagay City last Saturday.
Based on a police report, the teenager fired a gunshot at the responding policeman while escaping, prompting the latter to retaliate.
