BACOLOD City – An alleged drug personality and another person were gunned down in separate shooting incidents in Negros Occidental last Saturday.

In Himamaylan City, Vicente Gayongala, 50, of Barangay II was shot dead by two unidentified men on a motorcycle in Barangay 1.

Lieutenant Alfred Mansoy, Deputy Police Chief of Himamaylan City Police Station, said Gayongala, along with his sister and niece, was driving a tricycle home from the market when they were waylaid by the perpetrators.

The victim was rushed to a district hospital but was referred to another hospital here where he expired past 10PM, Mansoy said.

Police recovered from the scene three cases of .45 caliber ammunition.

Mansoy said the victim’s niece suffered a minor injury after she was hit by a stray bullet.

Mansoy said they are eyeing the incident as drug related since Gayongala was identified as a high value individual who previously surrendered to the police through Oplan Tokhang.

Mansoy also said that the victim was an alleged member of a drug group, based on their monitoring.

“Wala ta kabalo basi may failed transactions siya kag gin-bantayan siya,” he said.

Meanwhile, in San Carlos City, Joselito Omelda, 42, of Barangay Rizal was found dead in the said village on the same day.

Lieutenant Ruby Aurita, deputy police chief of San Carlos City Police Station, said Omelda succumbed to two gunshot wounds on the head.

Aurita said they have yet to determine the motive for the incident and no witness has surfaced to shed light on the incident.
