Two LSIs collared for ‘skirting’ quarantine protocols

Two locally stranded individuals (LSIs) were “caught” for allegedly disobeying quarantine procedures.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Alexis Relado, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) officer-in-charge, identified the “escapees” as Norbert Perlas and Louie Aguilar from Barangay Guinticgan, Carles, Iloilo.

They turned themselves in at the quarantine control point (QCP) located in Barangay Mohon, Arevalo, Iloilo City around 10:23 am of Aug 24, 2020.

The two are residents of Purok Masagana, San Manuel, Puerto Princesa, Palawan but claimed to be natives of Carles town.

The two were part of the group of 17 LSIs and four authorized persons outside of residence (APORs) who arrived in the city on board M/V Maria Erlinda.

The vessel left Cuyo, Palawan at around 2 pm Sunday and arrived at the Lapuz Wharf in Iloilo City 2 am Monday.

They claimed to have coordinated with the Carles local government unit (LGU) for their arrival.

But the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) learned that the two escaped and that the Carles LGU was unaware of their arrival.

A flash alarm was sent to the local police of the city and province of Iloilo.

“We informed our personnel manning the Tagbac and Ungka QCPs (in Jaro district) because this would be the normal route in going to Carles,” Relado said.

But the suspect chose to pass by Arevalo district where they were later flagged.

They are temporarily held in custody at Arevalo Police Station for the proper disposition of their case.
