Two Maritime cops under probe for gun-pointing civilians

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two members of Capiz Maritime Police Command based in Brgy. Culasi here are under investigation for allegedly pointing a gun at civilians Monday evening at Sitio Narra in Brgy. Punta Tabuc here.

Patrolman Mike Vicente Yago and Patrolman Dennis Sevilleja, both from Ilocos Norte are now under investigation by the Capiz Maritime Police Command (CMPC).

Lt. Semdan Sitchon, CPMC station commander, said his office will conduct a separate investigation on the incident. He said appropriate action will be taken against them if the allegations are true.

Punta Tabuc punong barangay Nestor Buenviaje said the two cops were allegedly drunk when they passed by the area on board a motorcycle. They then stopped and one of them drew a gun.

Some individuals at the barangay outpost tried to grab Yago’s firearm.

A commotion occurred and Yago suffered injuries while Sevilleja tried to flee but he was also mobbed.

The two cops were taken to the Roxas City police station for investigation.

The two maritime cops later apologized to the residents the following day.
