ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The province of Capiz logged two more persons hurt by firecrackers.
Jeoffrey Epiritu, Development Management Officer IV and spokesperson of the Department of Health (DOH)-Capiz, confirmed that an 11-year-old boy from Brgy. Malag-it Pontevedra, Capiz was added to the list after a “libintador” exploded on the right part of his neck.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man from Brgy. Agbanog also in Pontevedra was the third victim after a “super baskog” firecracker exploded on his right hand. The man was believed to be drunk when he lit the firecracker.
The two victims are under treatment in a hospital.
Espiritu earlier confirmed that on Dec 26, a 42-year-old person from President Roxas town was wounded when a firecracker exploded in his left hand.
The victim, who was drunk during the incident, was taken to Bailan District Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the police reminded the public not to sell illegal firecrackers as they will be arrested.
Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) spokesperson Police Major Ruby Magallanes said that the police are strictly monitoring the selling of firecrackers in the designated areas.
Persons who sell illegal firecrackers will be arrested for violation of Republic Act 7183 (An act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
